Ever thought cancer would hit anyone you love? It was a horrifying experience.
I got an email from my cousin Jean, which I thought was a bad bad joke. After few minutes of wondering, I realized it was not a hoax, but I spoke to my dad just the day before! I wrote back to Jean and was told that my mom didn't want to worry me. My god! I called my dad but found nothing new (I got basic information from Jean.) and none of my questions were answered. That worried me. I wanted to go back to Taiwan before surgery, but it was too late to book the flight to arrive prior to the surgery. So, instead of shortening my trip to in-laws', I decided to stay the full trip and to fly back to TW the day after we returned to Palo Alto. Luckily, Rajiv's parents were able to help out w/ kids.
Time btw touched down in California and taking off to TW was exactly 24 hrs. I never knew I could do travel this way. I somehow felt pitty for those who have to do it for business. I upgraded to business class. I should have had upgraded to 1st class! I didn't realize traveling could be so exhausting.
It was 1st stage and localized. That's good news. Doctor removed EVERYTHING. My god! Do you know uterus is smaller than your fist?! Can you imagine how big it can expand to nurture a fetus?! Wow! My mom's recovery seems smoothly, although I expect it to go a little faster. My mom has regained her appetite, which is a good sign. The thing is that doctor's clinic doesn't provide service of follow-up on tracing cancer cells. I will need to arrange it when I go back this summer.
I am lucky my mom is fine right now.
